Our Story

Prickly Pearizona began with a simple realization: a piece of overlooked Arizona desert could become a powerful source of nourishment, healing, and hope.

Founded by Arizona native and second-generation entrepreneur Andrew "Kyle" Newman, Prickly Pearizona is transforming 35 acres of cleared land in Wittmann into a sustainable, community-driven cactus farm. What started as a speculative real estate investment evolved into a purpose-driven mission focused on environmental stewardship and food equity.

Kyle saw potential in the native prickly pear cactus: a plant that survives where others fail, uses a fraction of the water required by traditional crops, and produces pads and fruit that are both nutrient-dense and culturally meaningful. With that vision in mind, he planted the seeds of something far bigger than a farm.

What We Stand For

Community Nourishment

At least 25 percent of every harvest is donated to Arizona food banks, with a goal of contributing over 60,000 pounds of fresh, locally grown produce within the first five years.

Regenerative Agriculture

Our farming methods are desert-smart, zero-waste, and designed to restore the land. We use native plants, compost organic material, and preserve water through every stage of cultivation.

Education and Access

Through volunteer programs, hands-on workshops, and seasonal events, we reconnect people with the land and their local food system while teaching the value of native, sustainable crops.

Our Vision

We envision a future where native crops feed Arizona families, where dry and forgotten land becomes productive again, and where every cactus planted reflects resilience, abundance, and generosity.

This is not just farming; it is restoration. It is community. And it is only the beginning.

Andrew "Kyle" Newman

Kyle has spent more than 12 years working as a licensed real estate agent and real estate investor. Raised in a family deeply connected to Arizona land and development, he understands both the economic and human value of responsible land use. With Prickly Pearizona, he brings together business experience and a passion for sustainability to transform land into impact.

In his words:
“I’ve built businesses, but nothing has felt more meaningful than giving life back to the land — and letting that land give life to others.”
